Chamber Week – Spectra Ensemble Recital

When traveling abroad, SPECTRA always tries to make programmes with music from its home country, Belgium, along with music from the country it is visiting. This very diverse programme – one demonstrating many aspects of contemporary music – is built around 4 teacher/student relationships: Luc Brewaeys was the teacher of Annelies van Parys, Furkan Keçeli studied with Filip Rathé, Frank Nuyts was Daan Janssens’ mentor, and of course Diana studied with both Peter Edwards and Ho Chee Kong as YST.
As Gustav Mahler beautifully put it: Tradition is not worshiping the ashes but passing on the fire. This is the heart of the teacher/student relationship, as is the relationship between the numbers 3 and 4 in music: Inextricably linked, but focused from the start on letting go and moving on.

ABOUT CHAMBER MUSIC WEEK
Chamber Music Week 2025 brings together top local and international artists and ensembles for a week-long celebration of chamber music.
Over the course of the week, look forward to chamber masterclasses and performances by acclaimed violist Su Zhen, Spectra Ensemble, tenor Mark Tucker, violinist Zhang Jia, pianist Daniel de Borah, YST contemporary music ensemble OpusNovus, YST Ensemble-in-Residence Red Dot Baroque, and the YST Voice and Composition Departments. The festival will also feature YST’s annual contemporary music festival Sounding Now and Song Festival: The Voices of England & France — expanding the chamber music experience beyond classical and instrumental traditions.
