SUMMARY:Chamber Week – Spectra Ensemble Recital
DESCRIPTION:When traveling abroad\, SPECTRA always tries to make programmes with music from its home country\, Belgium\, along with music from the country it is visiting. This very diverse programme – one demonstrating many aspects of contemporary music – is built around 4 teacher/student relationships: Luc Brewaeys was the teacher of Annelies van Parys\, Furkan Keçeli studied with Filip Rathé\, Frank Nuyts was Daan Janssens’ mentor\, and of course Diana studied with both Peter Edwards and Ho Chee Kong as YST. \nAs Gustav Mahler beautifully put it: Tradition is not worshiping the ashes but passing on the fire. This is the heart of the teacher/student relationship\, as is the relationship between the numbers 3 and 4 in music: Inextricably linked\, but focused from the start on letting go and moving on. \nDon’t miss Spectra’s other recital earlier in the week as part of YST Chamber Week: \nChamber Week – Festival Recital III: Spectra Ensemble19 March (Wed)\, 12:10pm | Concert Hall | Free \n  \nPROGRAMME \nENSEMBLE SPECTRA: FILIP RATHÉ\, conductorwithPIETER JANSEN\, violinBRAM BOSSIER\, violaFRANCIS MOUREY\, celloTILLE VAN GASTEL\, fluteJULIEN BENETEAU\, clarinetFRANK VAN EYCKEN\, percussionLUKAS HUISMAN\, piano \nFRANK NUYTSRats and Rabbits (2005) \nDAAN JANSSENS(Paysages – études) IV (2011) \nFURKAN KECELIA Variation on the Theme of Transculturalism \nFILIP RATHEAvec diamants extrêmes \nQui pleure làSi proche de moi-même \nPETER IVAN EDWARDS Ghoti \n– Intermission – \nDIANA SOH Incantare: take 2 \nANNELIES VAN PARYSFragranceS \nLUC BREWAEYSNobody is Perfect!
