Yung-Chiao Wei & Friends Double Bass Recital

12 August 2026 7:30pm - 9:00pm

YST Concert Hall

Hailed by the New York Concert Review Inc. as “phenomenal” for her Carnegie Hall debut recital and described by the Miami Herald as “A two sided-talent–a competition-winning pianist turned double bass virtuoso,” Yung-chiao Wei is an acclaimed international double bass soloist and educator who believes in the transformative power of music and the vital role of bringing musical performance and education to communities. Currently Professor of Double Bass at the LSU School of Music, Wei is also Founder and Artistic Director of the Louisiana Bass Festival and Co-founder of the Connect2Music Project.

Joining Wei on stage are members of the YST Double Bass Studio for an evening that celebrates the expressive breadth of the double bass. Featuring a programme of solo and ensemble works, the recital explores the instrument’s rich sonorities, lyrical voice and remarkable agility, while highlighting the spirit of collaboration and artistic exchange between guest artist and our young student musicians.
