Fresh Perspectives: String Trios with Mondrian Ensemble
March 30, 2026 • 12:15pm
YST Recording Studio
The Mondrian Ensemble of Switzerland presents an evening of premieres by YST student composers, performing works written expressly for the ensemble. Known for their precision, curiosity, and vibrant interpretive style, they bring these new string trios to life with energy and clarity, offering a compelling showcase of contemporary chamber music.
Founded in Basel in 2000, the ensemble has championed new music while engaging deeply with classical and romantic repertoire, collaborating with composers such as Dieter Ammann, Detlev Müller-Siemens, Jürg Frey, Edu Haubensak, Jannik Giger, Klaus Lang, Germán Toro-Perez, and Thomas Wally. Their adventurous approach spans improvisation, dance, music theatre, and electronic music, reflecting a bold, boundary-crossing spirit.
