Round off the 2025/26 season with the YST Orchestral Institute in a programme that spans centuries and styles—from Shostakovich’s searing intensity and moral complexity, to Haydn’s classical brilliance, and Pärt’s luminous stillness.

The concert opens with Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5, composed amid political turmoil and long heard as a work of dual meanings—its public gestures of triumph shot through with an unmistakable undercurrent of impassioned struggle. Haydn’s Symphony No. 100 (“Military”) follows, delighting with its bold fanfares, playful contrasts, and vivid orchestral colour, showcasing the composer’s wit and imagination at the height of his London years.

The evening concludes with Pärt’s Fratres for winds, strings, and percussion—a contemplative, meditative work of shimmering textures and spiritual resonance that invites listeners into a timeless sound world.

Under the baton of Principal Conductor Jason Lai, join us at the Esplanade Concert Hall for this season finale, celebrating the versatility of the orchestra and the enduring power of music across time and tradition.

Tickets from $15-50 via SISTIC.

Patrons without valid tickets will not be allowed entry. Out of respect for all patrons, late admission will only be allowed at suitable intervals. No children under 6 years of age will be allowed admission. Food and drinks are not allowed inside the venue.

No refunds, exchanges, or cancellations will be accepted for inability to attend, change of plans, or failure to show up on the day of the event/session.
