Cost of Attendance

Bachelor of Music (BMus)

At YST, BMus students benefit from a network of immense support, not only in their artistic and academic development but also in terms of finances.

Currently, the prevailing tuition fee for the programme is SGD146,500 per year. International students and Singapore Permanent Residents⁺ are eligible to apply for a Tuition Grant offered by the Singapore Government to reduce this fee to SGD50,750 (SGD 37,800 for ASEAN students) and SGD24,700 per year respectively, whereas Singapore Citizens will receive the grant automatically when they commence their studies, reducing their fees to SGD16,500 per year.

Scholarships

Students admitted to the programme may be eligible for scholarships which can be renewed every semester, further reducing the cost of the subsidized tuition fee.

Scholarship recipients may not concurrently hold other scholarship, fellowship, bursary, grant, award, allowance, waiver or free aid without prior approval from the University. In addition, scholarship recipients are generally expected to maintain a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.50, and be in good academic standing with the University and the Conservatory.

Students may also be eligible to apply for a separate bursary to help reduce their expenses in their cost of attendance.

Are scholarships available?
At present, the tuition fee for the BMus Degree programme is SGD137,600 per year. International students and Singapore Permanent Residents are eligible to apply for a Tuition Grant offered by the Singapore Government to reduce this fee to SGD42,200 (SGD35,500 for ASEAN students) and SGD23,200 per year respectively, whereas Singapore Citizens will receive the grant automatically when they commence their studies, reducing their fees to SGD15,500 per year.

Students admitted to the programme may be eligible for scholarships, further reducing the cost of the annual tuition fee. Scholarships are limited and not guaranteed.

How do I apply for a scholarship?
You may apply for the scholarship when you receive our offer of admission.

How do I apply for additional financial aid for housing or living allowance?
Housing and living allowance are not covered in our offer of admission package. However, students may be eligible to apply for a bursary to help reduce their expenses in their cost of attendance.

What documents are required for the application for bursary?
Students must submit an application online and declare their monthly household income through the submission of the following supporting documents:

If employed by a company, please submit the payslips for the last 3 months or Income Tax Notice Assessment for the previous year.
If self-employed, please submit the Income Tax Notice Assessment for the previous year.
If currently enrolled as a student, please submit a Student Candidature Letter or copy of the Student Card.
If parents are either divorced, separated or deceased, please submit the Divorce Certificate or the Death Certificate.

For international students, please note that supporting documents above will need to be in English for verification purposes.

I have obtained a bachelor’s degree in an unrelated field from a local autonomous university. Am I eligible for the Tuition Grant?
You will be eligible for the Tuition Grant only if you have not previously received the Tuition Grant towards subsiding your tuition fees for the bachelor’s degree. If you have previously received the grant, then you are not eligible to apply for the grant to read any second degree in the local university. As the financial aid package offered by YST only covers the subsidised tuition fee, you will have to bear the remaining amount of full tuition fees per year at your own expense.

Are there any obligations I need to fulfil in receipt of the Tuition Grant?
You will have an obligation to work in Singapore or a Singapore company for 3 years after graduation from YST.

Young Artist Programme (YAP)

The Young Artist Programme is a self-funded programme.

Master of Music Leadership (MMusL)

The Master of Music Leadership is a self-funded programme. However, YST-SSG Courses under the Free Electives component are eligible for SSG subsidies (applicable only to Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents). More information about the funding tables can be found here.

SkillsFuture Credit

All Singaporeans aged 25 and above can use their $500 SkillsFuture Credit from the government to pay for a wide range of approved skills-related courses. Visit the SkillsFuture Credit website to choose from the courses available on the Training Exchange course directory.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Music Practices

The PhD in Music Practices is a self-funded programme.

A limited number of YST scholarships covering the tuition fee are available for outstanding candidates. All applicants will be automatically considered for the scholarships, i.e. no separate application is required. Scholarship eligibility is assessed on a rolling basis as applications are received. Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply early to maximise their chances of consideration.
