Though born in Italy, Gian Carlo Menotti came to the U.S. to study at the Curtis Institute and spent most of his life shaping the American operatic landscape.
Don’t miss this semi-staged double bill featuring two of his one-act operas — performed by the YST Voice Department and the YST Orchestral Institute, conducted by Lien Boon Hua.

ABOUT SONGS OF THE PEOPLE, FOLK TRADITIONS & STORIES
The YST Voice Department presents a year-long exploration of vocal music rooted in folk traditions, storytelling and cultural identity—from the distinct folk and vocal traditions of America (Semester 1) to the rich musical heritage of Northern and Eastern Europe (Semester 2).
