Mervin, who views himself as both a violist and a ‘sonic alchemist’, took part in the competition when he saw it being publicised on MusicTech’s website. “I was provided a demo-set of Output’s virtual instrument called ‘SIGNAL’, which I used to create a track. I utilized only the Signal demo along with other free sounds that Output provided to create the entire track.”

He was pleasantly surprised when he discovered that he had been selected for the Grand Prize. “I took part in the contest for good fun and my love for electronic music. I was ecstatic!”
