International Partnerships

Crossing Cultures, Creating Music.

YST believes that exchange across cultures and nations is an important part of learning and music-making. To that end, our students, faculty and alumni are engaged in a range of immersive projects throughout Asia, as well as in festivals, summer courses and performances across the globe. Our faculty are also supported to take up performance or developmental opportunities all over the world.

Our educational and musical offering is augmented by our distinctive international music education networks and dynamic professional partnerships.

Regional & International Network

YST is a member of several higher music education networks including the Pacific Alliance of Music Schools (PAMS), Association of European Conservatoires (AEC), International Benchmarking Group (IBG), Southeast Asian Directors of Music Association (SEADOM), and ConNext. Through these platforms, YST has access to different opportunities for professional collaborations, enriching student and faculty international experience, and enhancing cross-cultural learning.

Pacific Alliance of Music Schools (PAMS)

The Pacific Alliance of Music Schools (PAMS) is a network of leading conservatories and music schools across the Asia-Pacific and North America, created in 2014 to strengthen collaboration in music education, research, and cultural exchange. It brings together more than a dozen prestigious institutions from countries including the United States, Canada, China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and Thailand, and recently welcomed UC Chile as its first Latin American member. Through its annual summit, PAMS provides a platform for deans, directors, and now student representatives to discuss academic and student mobility, curriculum development, and artistic partnerships, positioning the alliance as a driving force in shaping innovative and globally connected music education.

Association of European Conservatories (AEC)

The Association of European Conservatoires (AEC) is a network representing institutions of higher learning in music education in Europe and beyond (as affiliated members). The AEC has approximately 300 member institutions spanning about 55–57 countries. It enhances music education through advocacy, professional development, projects, and services such as mobility systems and institutional networking.

International Benchmarking Group (IBG)

Established in 2010, the International Benchmarking Group (IBG) is a network of eleven of the world’s leading conservatoires. Its primary aim is to enhance the professional and personal development of young musicians through the sharing of best practice, ensuring that its member institutions remain at the forefront of conservatoire education and training globally.

The IBG draws from a bespoke, detailed and sophisticated database to inform its work and steer the agendas for its meetings. Students across the network benefit directly from unique opportunities to participate in shared online masterclasses and lectures, collaborative performance projects and exchange activities, while staff have access to regular professional development opportunities alongside their international peers.

Southeast Asian Directors of Music Association (SEADOM)

SEADOM is a Southeast Asian cultural and educational network representing the interests of institutions that are concerned with training for the music profession. SEADOM works for the advancement of Southeast Asian music education, with a particular focus on professional training for musicians as they engage with music, the arts and culture in contemporary society and for future generations. It does this through providing support, information, networking opportunities and expert advice to institutions offering advanced music education, engaging in advocacy and partnership-building at the Southeast Asian and international levels.
