MUA3209 Business for Musicians

Course schedule*: Thursdays, 7-9pm (Semester 2, AY2025/26) 

*Additional dates may be involved for projects/assessments during the semester period of 12 Jan – 9 May 2026. Added make-up classes may also be scheduled due to public holidays coinciding with class dates.

Objectives
Practitioners and educators of music/music-related industries will benefit from this course through gaining knowledge in related areas of law, marketing and survey methodology necessary to successfully start or run a music business/organisation.

Content
The course is designed for musicians to gain knowledge in the legal, marketing and data gathering aspects in music related contexts. It will cover relevant aspects of company, labour and intellectual property law, impact of arts marketing strategy, quantitative and qualitative methodologies.

Registration opens on 4 October 2025 and closes on 3 November 2025.
