ABOUT THIS EVENT
In honour of International Women’s Day (8 March), Frances Lee (pianist) and Benedict Ng (violist) present a lecture-recital on viola sonatas by Rebecca Clarke and Libby Larsen, exploring how these two women composers partook in the long tradition of the instrumental sonata. This lecture-recital will seek to contextualise works from the two composers – one from the 20th century and one from the 21st – from both historical and theoretical angles, and examine how these findings inform how one approaches these works as both a performer and a listener.
