ABOUT THIS EVENT
IN THIS PRESENTATION, DR. LIN WILL TALK ABOUT HER EXPERIENCE AS A COMPOSER WORKING IN INTERDISCIPLINARY PROJECTS AND SHARE THE INSIGHTS OF THE UPCOMING EVENT “DEAR JOHN”, FEATURED IN THIS YEAR’S HUAYI-CHINESE FESTIVAL OF ARTS (華藝節).


ABOUT THE PRESENTER

Lin Kuei-Ju is a Taiwanese composer who enjoys working with acoustic and electroacoustic instruments, sound installations and interdisciplinary collaborations in both theater and dance. She has collaborated extensively with Taiwan’s theatre and dance groups. Her collaborative project Kuang Qi with the M.O.V.E. Theatre won four prizes at the 2017 Bangkok Theatre Festival Awards, including best art direction, Dear John won the 2014 Taishin Arts Awards. Her music has been performed in concerts and festivals in Taiwan and internationally, including Acanthes Music Festival, Festival d’Avignon Off, Busan International Performing Arts Festival, OzAsia Festival, Totally Huge New Music Festival, Asian Composers League Festivals. Kuei-Ju is also an improviser on piano and has released an album Classy Bluster – Improvised Music by Kueiju and Friends.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Composition from the Taipei National University of the Arts and a PhD. in Composition from University of California, San Diego.

She is currently an assistant professor in music at Taiwan’s Shih Chien University, the music director of the M.O.V.E. Theater and a mother to her two-year-old daughter.
