ABOUT THIS EVENT

In the 17th and 18th centuries, young men from the European nobility undertook a “Grand Tour” when they came of age, visiting various cities across the continent as a means of aristocratic education. This epic journey, often lasting several months or even years, exposed them to the cultural legacies and art traditions of the various cultures and provided them the unique opportunity to hear music from the different nations. Join Red Dot Baroque on a grand musical tour of Baroque Europe, passing through London, Venice, Innsbruck and Paris, culminating in the revolutionary Les élémens by Jean-Féry Rebel. Subtitled a “new kind of symphony” by the composer himself, Rebel’s masterpiece is based on traditions of the past infused with daring experimentation in harmony and orchestration which might very well shock the listener of both the past and present.
