Announcing the Cham Ee Lin Prize for Senior Recital

12 January 2026

YST is deeply honoured to announce the new Cham Ee Lin Prize for Senior Recital, an endowed gift donated by Cham Gee Len, in memory of her late mother.

The Prize is awarded to a graduating student who has distinguished himself/herself with his/her performance of a work by Brahms or Beethoven in their Senior Recital.

Mrs Cham Ee Lin was the granddaughter of Singapore philanthropist and businessman, Mr Teo Siok Guan. She graduated from the University of Singapore with Honours in Physics and worked as a Research Assistant at Cavendish Laboratory in Cambridge, UK. She was married to Prof Cham Tao Soon, founding President of Nanyang Technological University. Ee Lin was a lifelong lover of classical music, particularly music composed by Bach, Beethoven and Brahms. She was also an accomplished pianist and champion of music students. Besides supporting classical music organisations such as the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, she was also a regular donor to CARITAS, the social mission group of the Catholic Church in Singapore.

Ms Cham Gee Len is presently Head of Development at Duke-NUS Medical School. Previously an investment banker and entrepreneur, moving to the impact space has allowed her to build relationships to create meaningful outcomes for many different lives. She is an avid classical music lover and a conservatoire-trained pianist, having performed concerts in both London and Singapore. Besides giving to academia, she is also a supporter of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra.
