Applicants will be considered to have met the English language requirement for admission to the PhD in Music Practices if they meet any of the following:
- English is their first language; or
- They have completed a degree taught entirely in English, in one of the following English-speaking countries, with a minimum duration of four years: Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, United Kingdom, USA; or
- They present a TOEFL with the minimum acceptable scores of at least 100 for the internet-based test and a minimum score of 22 for the writing section; or
- They present an IELTS with the minimum acceptable score of 7.0.
In addition, all admitted candidates will be required to sit for the Diagnostic English Test (administered by the NUS Centre for English Language Communication) before the start of their first semester.
