Bachelor of Music

Overview

The Bachelor of Music (Honours) is a four-year full-time programme that integrates rigorous musical training with professional development. Students complete 160 units through a carefully balanced curriculum.

At its core are the Major Requirements (68 units), offering deep specialisation in one of 20 fields spanning performance, composition, audio arts, and interdisciplinary musical practice, supported by mentorship from distinguished faculty. Music Studies (28 units) broaden perspectives through classes on musical concepts, materials, and contextual studies, while Professional Integration emphasises reflective practice, communication, and entrepreneurial skills which are essential to musicians in navigating their way through today’s evolving music ecosystem. The General Education component (24 units), taught in six pillars of critical and societal competencies across the university, cultivates analytical thinking, global awareness, and community engagement beyond music. Complementing these are Unrestricted Electives (40 units), which give students freedom to explore diverse academic and artistic pathways, including minors, second majors, or double degrees.
