ACADEMICS & ADMISSIONS
Academics and admission-related announcements.
At YST, we support our students as they go places. In the last academic year, nine students took part in semester-long exchange programmes with our partner schools, and four students have been on exchange this semester. 110 students benefitted from the Student Artistic Development Fund which enabled them to take part in festivals, competitions and projects overseas last year. Read about Lin Xiangning’s (Year 4, Piano) experience here.
From 20-24 August, 15 music undergraduates and postgraduates from Jianghan University in China visited YST, as part of a collaboration between the Conservatory and the NUS School of Continuing and Lifelong Education (SCALE). Over the five days, they attended classroom and hands-on sessions with five of our faculty.
Beginning in Semester 1 of the 2018/19 academic year, the YST Conservatory will be offering a new Minor in Music & Society that specifically focuses on music’s societal dimension. Students will appreciate the broad disciplinary outreach in the minor programme that encompasses the study of music in potential social, political, economic and aesthetic contexts.
At YST, we seek to open up platforms and pathways for people to pursue their passions and aspirations in music. For the 2018/19 academic year, we are pleased to announce that 20 Conservatory modules are available to NUS students.
