In addition to many performances with The Philadelphia Orchestra\, he has also performed with Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra (Israel)\, Baltimore Symphony\, Tenerife Symphony (Spain)\, San Francisco Symphony and National Orchestra of Ecuador. Milling is a graduate of Baltimore School for the Arts\, earned his Bachelor´s Degree from The Curtis Institute of Music and did post-graduate studies at Temple University’s Esther Boyer College of Music. Born in Manila\, Salonga\, a child prodigy\, gained national recognition and have done national concert tours after he won First Prize in National Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA) in 1998 and in 2001. Since then\, he has also appeared at music festivals like Neuberg an der Donau Music Festival in Germany\, Athenaeum Piano Festival in Italy\, JFJC Music Institute Festival in Philippines\, EuroArts Academy Winter Festival in Korea and FAIM Summer Festival in China. Salonga is the Gold Medal winner of the 2008 Jeonju International Piano Competition in South Korea. He has also won the Zellen Piano Prize at the Cleveland Institute of Music. He has gained accolades from Hilton Head International Piano Competition\, Florida International Piano Competition\, and Scottish International Piano Competition. Oliver Salonga received his Artist Diploma and Master of Music in Piano Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music. He also received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance with minors in Theory and Analysis\, Arts Management\, and Collaborative Arts from the University of Southern California where he held the Sylvia Grancell Award for his entire doctoral residency. \nOliver has received guidance from outstanding pianists\, such as Antonio Pompa-Baldi\, Sergei Babayan\, Daniel Pollack\, Jerome Lowenthal\, Robert McDonald\, Alexei Kornienko\, Norman Krieger\, and Angela Cholakian. We use our bodies and minds to craft something. We direct\, or are directed. We act inside of a system to create something larger than we could alone. As time moves forward and progress is made\, things are created to replace people. Machines that work better and faster than we do. Is this exploitative? Is something sacrificed? Do we become lost in the work? As The Assembly Line\, we try to find the lines that divide man and machine\, progress and regression\, humans and labour. The Mechanical Being brings together electronics\, acoustics\, automation\, and manual work in a spirit of cooperation. Spanning both film and music\, the programme presents a physical dialogue that happens between man and contraption. The interfacing that happens every day\, yet yields no further understanding between the two\, beyond what already exists. In The Garden of Earthly Delights\, live sound strives to communicate with film of the past. Karst studied Classical Piano\, Music Theory and Jazz Piano in the Netherlands. Being a former teacher of Music Theory at the Conservatory of Amsterdam\, he is currently dividing his activities between the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague and the ESMUC (Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya) in Barcelona\, teaching music theoretical subjects\, improvisation and composition techniques. As a student of the Franz Liszt Academy\, he won First Prize in 1979 in the Jeno Hubay Violin Competition and later pursued studies with Nathan Milstein.From 1975 to 1992\, he was founding member and leader of the acclaimed Takács Quartet performing with legendary artists\, Lord Menuhin\, Sir Georg Solti\, Isaac Stern and Mstislav Rostropovitch. In 1996 he founded the Takács Piano Trio and made world-premiere recordings of works of Hungarian composers Franz Liszt\, Lászlo Lajtha and Sandor Veress. Gábor Takács-Nagy is considered one of today’s most authentic exponents of Hungarian music\, and in particular\, that of Béla Bartok. In March 2017 he was awarded the prestigious Béla Bartok-Ditta Pasztory Prize.In 1998 he established the Mikrokosmos string quartet with compatriots Zoltan Tuska\, Sandor Papp and Miklos Perényi. In 2002\, following in a long-line of Hungarian musical tradition\, Gábor Takács-Nagy turned to conducting . In 2006 he became the Music Director of the Weinberger Kammerorchestra and in August 2007\, the Music Director of the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra. The VFCO performs every summer in the Verbier Festival and also in numerous European and Asian cities throughout the year. From 2010 until 2012 he was Music Director of the MAV Symphony Orchestra Budapest and recorded the world premiere of the “Bards of Wales” oratorio by Karl Jenkins. Since September 2011 he is Music Director of Manchester Camerata and in September 2012 was named Principal Guest Conductor of the Budapest Festival Orchestra . A long tradition of comparing chamber music (especially string quartets) to artful conversation reflects the intricate sense of interaction among the instrumental parts. Klorman imagines chamber compositions as a game in which each instrumental part may be understood as an individual player or character\, capable of competing with\, seducing\, deceiving\, or outwitting the others as the music unfolds. \nEdward Klorman is a music theorist specializing in tonal music and in the relationship between analysis and performance. His first book\, Mozart’s Music of Friends: Social Interplay in the Chamber Works (Cambridge\, 2016)\, draws on historical concepts of musical sociability and agency to develop new approaches to the analysis of sonata form and phrase rhythm. \nEdward Klorman has published and presented widely on topics in the performance of eighteenth-century chamber music. He currently serves as co-chair of the Performance and Analysis Interest Group of the Society for Music Theory. Prior to his appointment at the Schulich School of Music at McGill University\, he previously taught music theory\, viola\, and chamber music at The Juilliard School\, Manhattan School of Music\, and Queens College (CUNY). My works are identified as being Malay\, but also South East Asian\, with clear influence from Indonesia as part of the ‘Nusantara’ region and the Malay Archipelago. I would like to share some selections of my music\, many of which were inspired by Asian cultures\, geometrical patterns and designs\, and Western European art combined with multi-cultural contemporary ideals. I will also present a snapshot of my opera\, Puteri Saadong\, a first opera in the Malay language\, which was premiered in Malaysia\, Japan and the UK. \n\nHenri Dutilleux has described Malaysian composer Tazul Tajuddin’s work as ‘an original temperament\, which encompasses both rigour and new ways of thinking’. Through this process she discovered the immense expressive potential of applying acting techniques to musical performance.
