Peled and the Cello Gang tour regularly around the country with recent performances at the Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival\, the Society of Four Arts in Palm Beach\, the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra\, as a resident ensemble in San Miguel de Allende\, Mexico\, and all across Maryland\, the gang’s home state. SUMMARY:Beyond the Score: The Practical Impact of Musicians in Non-Music Spaces
DESCRIPTION:ABOUT THIS EVENT \nBeyond the Score is a capstone project by final year MS/MCP students Matthias Oh and Evan Xia. This symposium aims to provide participants with an opportunity to comprehensively understand and appreciate the practical impacts of music and its contributions to many other facets in society outside the music scene. The objective of the one-day symposium is to showcase a pool of knowledge and insights based on the experience of invited guest speakers regarding “non-music” areas that involve community engagement and societal contributions by musicians. \nTargeted at student musicians or musically inclined individuals with a keen interest in contributing to society through music\, this symposium endeavours to help the participants realise the vast potential of bringing their musical identities beyond their own instruments or technical practice. Hence\, titling it “Beyond the Score” provides a simple but clear idea of the intention behind the entire knowledge-sharing session. \nIf you’re interested in music and how it can build meaningful connections and innovative opportunities in other industries of society\, this symposium is for you! \nInstagram: @Beyond.thescoreTelegram channel: @Beyond_thescore \nSubscribe to YST’s mailing list. \nTICKETING INFORMATION \nFree admission with compulsory registration. \n* All event information is correct at time of print.

Adagio. Mesto – Belà Bartók in memoriamVl. Molto vivace. Capriccioso \nABOUT THIS EVENT \nBritish composer and biographer Robert Simpson wrote\, “Nielsen’s fondness of wind instruments is closely related to his love of nature\, his fascination for living\, breathing things. He was also intensely interested in human character\, and in the Wind Quintet composed deliberately for five friends\, each part is cunningly made to suit the individuality of each player.” The music will bring you all to the situation created by the composer. Next\, a bagatelle is a trifle or something of little importance. When Ligeti wrote six little bagatelles\, though\, he created what is now a standard in the woodwind quintet repertoire. Each of these pieces has a unique personality of its own\, and six different stories are told\, with the help of a bit of imagination. Imagine a group of children full of energy in their wonderful childhood. This concert will bring you all the different perspectives to look inside the music. \nSubscribe to YST’s mailing list. \nTICKETING INFORMATION \nFree admission. \nOut of respect for other concertgoers\, no children under 6 years of age will be allowed admission. \nTo help keep our community safe\, here are the measures that we will be adhering to: \n• Only individuals who are fully vaccinated or exempted from Vaccination-Differentiated Safe Management Measures (VDS)* may be admitted to performances with more than 500 audience members. \n• *Exempted from VDS: Individuals who have recovered from a COVID-19 infection and are within 180 days of their first positive test result\, individuals who are medically ineligible for COVID-19 vaccination\, and children aged 12 and below. \n• All audience members must warrant that all vaccination and VDS information is correct when requested for disclosure. \n• All audience members must consent to the collection\, use and disclosure of personal data in relation to the ticket holders’ vaccination and VDS data. \n• Do bring along your photo identification and proof of vaccination.
