Tan Wei Boon, Senior Associate Director (Student Life), oversees admissions, student support, and alumni engagement at YST. His office provides support for a range of student services, including student resident living, international exchanges, student initiatives, social functions, welfare, student activities, freshmen orientation and student cultural engagement projects.

Wei Boon has been an active trombonist in Singapore for over two decades. He has previously performed either as a freelancer or orchestra member with the Singapore Wind Symphony, NUS Wind Symphony, NUS Symphony Orchestra, Braddell Heights Symphony Orchestra, NIE Symphonic Band, Thomson Big Band, Singapore Youth Orchestra, the Philharmonic Winds and the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. He has also been an orchestra musician in numerous opera productions with the Singapore Lyric Opera from 1998 to 2003 and with ACTION Theatre's production of Chang & Eng the musical during its 2001 - 2002 season. Since 2010, Wei Boon performs regularly with the Orchestra of the Music Makers in Singapore.

Wei Boon has served as a brass tutor in several schools including the Catholic Junior College, Anglo-Chinese School (Independent), St Margaret's Secondary School, Peirce Secondary School, Loyang Secondary School, Singapore Polytechnic and the Presbyterian High School. He was also a member of the Singapore National Youth Orchestra Advisory Committee from 2011 to 2015.

In 2013, Weiboon joined the NUS Sheares Hall as Resident Fellow and has since been in charge of the hall’s multi-faceted cultural groups as their Cultural RF. 

In recognition of his contributions to education in Singapore, Wei Boon was awarded the Commendation Medal by the President of Republic of Singapore, at the 2010 National Day Honours.
