Shaw Foundation, Singapore
Ms Shaw practised at the Singapore Bar for 11 years, with three of Singapore's largest law firms, before deciding to take a career break. Since then, she has served on various arts, healthcare, community and statutory boards. Her first experience with public service was as a board member of a homecare charity, which she served for 6 years before stepping down from its board. Other past appointments include the chairmanship of the Singapore National Youth Orchestra, trusteeship of Singhealth Foundation, one of the largest healthcare charitable foundations in Singapore, board memberships of the Sentosa Development Corporation, the National Parks Board and flagship national museums the Asian Civilisations Museum and the Peranakan Museum from 1998 to 2009, with the last 4 years as Chairman of both museums. She has also served as Director, Board of Directors of INSEAD. For her service to Singapore in heritage and culture, she was awarded the Public Service Medal in 2008. For her service to French arts and culture as Council Member of the Alliance Francaise de Singapour, she was awarded the French National Order of Merit ( L'Ordre National du Merite ) in 2010.
Currently, she is President of the Home Nursing Foundation, and a member of the Governing Board of the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore.
Ms Shaw holds a Bachelor of Arts honours degree in Law, and is a Barrister-at-Law of Gray's Inn, London.
