Born on the Isle of Man, Jason Evans began to play the cornet at the age of six. A student at Chetham's School of Music in Manchester, Evans was also principal trumpet of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. He went on to graduate with a first class honours degree and the Queen's Award for Excellence from the Royal Academy of Music, where he studied with Mark David, Paul Beniston and John Hutchins.
In September 2014 the Royal Academy appointed him to the position of James Watson Associate Professor of Trumpet and in 2016 he became a Professor of Trumpet at the Royal College of Music, where he takes an active role in the development of the trumpet and brass departments as a whole.
Evans is also a founding member of an award winning London-based brass quintet, Inner City Brass.
