ABOUT ALEXANDER BARTHA
Alexander Bartha graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Music, USA, under the tutelage of Professor Donald Weilerstein. After graduating with Masters of Music and Professional Studies Diploma in 1992, he went back to Germany to study at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin with Professor Feltz, in the masterclass of Professor Werner Scholz and finished with an artist diploma in 1995.
While still studying he started working as 1st Concertmaster of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Gera, where he appeared regularly as a soloist and orchestra leader. Since 2002 he has held the position of 1st Concertmaster of the State Opera Orchestra Hessen, which also includes coaching young talented musicians in orchestral perormance. In 2005 he became a member of the teaching faculty at the Wiesbaden Music Academy. Always interested in chamber music, he performed as part of piano quartet VIARDOT between 1997 and 2007; its last CD release in 2008 was awarded the highest recommendation by the classical music internet portal klassic.com. In 2009 Alexander Bartha joined the first violins in the Richard Wagner Festival Orchestra in Bayreuth, which meets once a year in the summer to perform the operas of Richard Wagner with musicians including Christian Thielemann, Andris Nelsons and Kirill Petrenko. In 2017 he held the position of assistant concertmaster.
Alexander Bartha is also a regular guest concertmaster in major German orchestras.
