ABOUT THE ORCHESTRA
The KNUA Symphony Orchestra was created in 1993 during the establishment of the School of Music of the Korea National University of Arts (K-Arts). Since then, it has strived to show the best performance in its concerts in Seoul and other cities. It has also strived to get closer to audiences through its serious and passionate performances. On the occasion of Korea-Russia summit in 1999, the Moscow State Conservatory and the KNUA Symphony Orchestra performed together. In 2001, its joint concerts with the Moscow State Conservatory and the Rimsky-Korsakov Saint Petersburg State Conservatory drew applause from the Russian audience. On the Schools’s 10th anniversary in 2003, the KNUA Symphony Orchestra successfully performed Mahler’s 2nd Symphony with the KNUA Choir consisting of 400 students and graduates of the School. The concert served as an opportunity to take the orchestra to the next level.
