PROF STEPHEN EMMERSON presenter
PROF BERNARD LANSKEY presenter
Since the beginning of the 21st Century, the conservatory world, particularly in Europe and Australia but more recently also in Asia, has been developing momentum in relation to embedding research as an intrinsic element of both culture and curriculum. At the core of the emerging field has been the investigation of the performance process, often using experimental performance itself as a means of explication. This short dialogue-presentation-performance will touch on some of the key developments over the past fifteen years in this emergent field. Professors Bernard Lanskey and Stephen Emmerson will share some of their own research while also looking at trends particularly evident across the ConNext network of which Singapore (YST Conservatory, NUS) and Queensland (Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University) are both members. A particular focus will be to offer some insight to selected material to be featured in the Victoria Concert Hall Concert in five day’s time: Claude Debussy, Musicien Française.
