With Pulcinella, Stravinsky gave birth to Neo-Classicism, a major evolution in his musical style which was to shape his compositional approach between the two world wars. The aesthetic was also to inspire his contemporaries such as Milhaud, Poulenc, Honneger, Strauss, Bartók, Kodály and Martinů to draw their musical material from works of the past. Performed on period instruments, the first half of this concert will feature works that directly inspired Stravinsky's Pulcinella. Ong Teng Cheong Professor in Music Masaaki Suzuki returns to YST with violinist Ryo Terakado to work with the Conservatory Orchestra in this special performance.
