Shostakovich's Cello Concerto No. 2 from 1966 is one of the first works to define the composer's late style. In this presentation, composer and cellist Martin Jaggi will explore the work historically and analytically, looking at its place within both Shostakovich's history and Soviet history and exploring the compositional dimensions of instrumentation, structure, and texture that help define Shostakovich's compositional approach.
