Ryo Terakado, presenter
Bolivian-born Japanese violinist and conductor Ryo Terakado leads a string workshop with YST students performing solo violin works by Couperin and Corelli on principal national styles from the Baroque period. Appointed leader of the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra immediately on graduation from the Toho Gakuen School of Music, his career increasingly has taken him towards authentic performance practice, leading and directing ensembles world-wide. In residence this week with Masaaki Suzuki in preparation for our cantata project in two days’ time, Mr Terakado works regularly with Mr Suzuki and the Bach Collegium Japan as well as teaching with YST’s ConNext partner, the Royal Conservatoire, the Hague.
