SUMMARY:Plenary Presentation: Karin Schaupp - Finding Stories Beyond The Dots
DESCRIPTION:KARIN SCHAUPP\, presenter \nABOUT THE EVENT\nKarin Schaupp has had an international career as a concert guitarist and she has also trained extensively as an actor and used her skills to create multiple cross-platform projects. Through this process she discovered the immense expressive potential of applying acting techniques to musical performance. In this lecture-recital Karin will share an overview of her projects and the artistic research intrinsic to her process. Karin will also discuss how she applies acting techniques in her teaching at tertiary level and why she feels these techniques have the potential to fill a notable gap in the training of instrumentalists. \nThis event is presented as part of Performers(‘) Present 2019: Telling Stories. \n\n\n\n\nAbout Karin Schaupp\n\n\n\n\nABOUT THE SYMPOSIUM\nNarratives – whether historical\, political\, or musical; whether fact or fiction – are inextricably bound to the ways we experience the world\, and the art that translates these experiences. \nIn the decade since we began hosting the triennial Performers(‘) Present symposium\, artistic research has been undergoing rapid and ground-shifting transformations\, with the performer’s voice becoming ever more present.
