SUMMARY:Orchestral Institute/Bach Cantata Series: St. John Passion
DESCRIPTION:PROGRAMME \nJ. S. BACHSt. John Passion\, BWV 245 \nProgramme booklet \nABOUT THIS EVENT \nYST presents Johann Sebastian Bach’s epic St. John Passion\, in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Conservatory’s ongoing Bach Cantata Series. Led by YST alumnus Alan Choo from the violin\, join the voice majors\, Ensemble-in-Residence Red Dot Baroque\, and members of the YST Orchestral Institute as they present Bach’s dramatic setting of the Passion story. \nInaugurated in 2011\, the Bach Cantata Series has provided students a platform to explore Bach’s greatest vocal writing\, with the Conservatory’s voice majors presenting numerous performances of these formidable works over the past decade. Through the Bach Cantata Series\, voice and orchestral students alike have been able to cultivate an interest in Baroque performance practice\, with many of the students involved in the early instalments of the Bach Cantata Series eventually becoming the founding members of Red Dot Baroque. \nThis event will be livestreamed on the Conservatory’s YouTube channel.
