Allegretto grazioso – Molto vivaceIV. Allegro ma non troppo \nABOUT THIS EVENT \n2021 Concerto Competition Prizewinner Stephen Mak performs Berwald’s Konzertstück for bassoon and orchestra\, Op. 2. Listen for the second movement\, which directly quotes the aria Home Sweet Home from Henry Bishop’s 1823 opera Clari. Rounding off the programme is Dvorak’s cheerful and melodic Symphony No. 8\, which inhabits a sunny\, pastoral world filled with Bohemian folk melodies and sounds of the woodland songbirds. \nStephen Mak Wai Soon began his bachelor’s degree studies in bassoon performance at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in 2019 under Professor Zhang Jin Min. Notable activities that have spurred his growth includes masterclasses with Christian Kunert\, Kittima Molee and Makiko Kunow\, Alban Wesly\, as well as performing for the 2019 Beethoven im Garten concert held at the Singapore Botanic Gardens. Besides playing the bassoon\, Stephen enjoys hiking and exploring new places\, and is on a constant hunt for his next best cup of kopi. \nSupported by:  \n \nSubscribe to YST’s mailing list. \nTICKETING INFORMATION \nUp to 264 audience members (in groups of 2) will be allowed.
