Regularly known as the “Father of the String Quartet”\, Haydn’s innovative and ambitious Op. 76 represents the culmination of an instrumentation that he helped popularise into its modern form. At the same time\, no commemoration of Haydn can be complete without showcasing his piano music\, which will be performed on a Fortepiano built by Paul McNulty based on instruments by the Viennese instrument maker Walter & Sohn from the late 18th century. The evening will then culminate in a performance of Haydn’s “Mass in Time of War”\, which was written towards the end of the French Revolution\, and is often cited as containing anti-war sentiments and messages of peace. \nThere will be a pre-concert event\, Sculptures Launch: A Conversation with Mr Chong Fahcheong. Click to learn more. \n  \nRegister Here \nPresent your ticket/confirmation at Bar Bar Black Sheep (Kent Ridge) to enjoy 20% off food\, and beer/wine/cocktails & more at $4.90 nett each! *Valid only on date of ticket \n  \nTICKETING INFORMATION \n• Ticketing via Eventbrite.• All event information is correct at time of print.• Out of respect for other concertgoers\, no children under 6 years of age will be allowed admission. \nPhoto credit: Kim Dohyung
