Tema con variazioni: Andante con moto – Variazioni finale e coda \nABOUT THIS EVENT \nThis programme looks back in reverse chronology at the Russian tradition of writing in the grand manner\, of sweeping gestures on a large canvas. Shostakovich’s Op. 8 Trio from 1923 and Rachmaninov’s First Trio élégiaque from 1892\, both works in a single movement\, were written when both composers were students and still in their teens.
