We apologise for any inconvenience caused.For more information on the status of YST events\, please visit: bit.ly/yst-updates \nMAX RIEFER\, presenter  \nPROGRAMMEPersephassa is a work for 6 percussionists written by Iannis Xenakis\, one of the most influential composers in the 20th century. This presentation will look at the history of the work as well as its compositional design. Persephassa will be performed on the Sounding Now Festival on Friday\, 17 April 2020 with percussionists Steven Schick\, Mario Choo\, Max Riefer\, Tim White\, and students from YST and UiTM.  \nABOUT MAX RIEFER Max Riefer is Director of Percussion Studies at Universiti Teknologi Mara Faculty of Music and an adjunct lecturer in contemporary music at the YST Conservatory. He has performed as soloist and chamber musician at international festivals like MaerzMusik (Berlin)\, Tokyo Experimental Festival\, Vienna Modern\, soundbridge (Malaysia)\, two days and two nights of new music (Ukraine)\, Gongs & Skins (Vietnam\, Thailand\, Myanmar) or SIP Fest (Indonesia). Collaborations with Ensemble Modern (Germany)\, percussionists Steven Schick and Johannes Fischer\, flutist Robert Aitken and violoncellist Julian Steckel. He has guest lectured at the Birmingham Conservatoire (UK); Conservatory of Music Lugano (Switzerland); Tokyo Ongaku Daigaku (Japan); Mannheim University of Music (Germany)\, Mahidol College of Music (Thailand) and other schools in Europe and Asia. He studied at the Freiburg Music University with Prof Bernhard Wulff and Prof Taijiro Miyazaki and at the Toho Gakuen Orchestra Academy (Japan) with Prof Yoshiyuki Tsukada and Prof Kyoichi Sano.  \nTICKETING INFORMATION • Free admission. • All event information is correct at time of print. • Out of respect for other concertgoers\, no children under 6 years of age will be allowed admission.
