SUMMARY:Chamber Week – Song Festival: Voice Discovery with Mark Tucker
DESCRIPTION:Tenor Mark Tucker explores vocal music of the Baroque period in England and France\, as part of Chamber Music Week and Song Festival: The Voices of England & France. \n  \nABOUT SONG FESTIVAL: THE VOICES OF ENGLAND & FRANCE – 300 YEARS OF VOCAL MUSIC \nJoin members of the YST Voice Department in this two-part song festival as we explore the unique time periods\, societal and language elements which came together to contribute to pivotal flourishings of English and French vocal music. \nIn Part 1 last semester\, we focused on the prolific contributions of Francis Poulenc and Benjamin Britten. This semester\, we will travel 300 years earlier and explore the vast repertoire of the French Baroque cantata and the genius of Henry Purcell\, featuring the YST Voice majors and guest artist Mark Tucker in collaboration with YST Ensemble-in-Residence Red Dot Baroque\, led by Artistic Director Alan Choo. \n  \nABOUT CHAMBER MUSIC WEEK \nChamber Music Week 2025 brings together top local and international artists and ensembles for a week-long celebration of chamber music. \nLook forward to chamber masterclasses and performances by acclaimed violist Su Zhen\, Spectra Ensemble\, tenor Mark Tucker\, violinist Zhang Jia\, pianist Daniel de Borah\, YST contemporary music ensemble OpusNovus\, YST Ensemble-in-Residence Red Dot Baroque\, and the YST Voice and Composition Departments. The festival will also feature YST’s annual contemporary music festival Sounding Now and Song Festival: The Voices of England & France — expanding the chamber music experience beyond classical and instrumental traditions. \nDon’t miss this invaluable opportunity to learn from acclaimed chamber musicians\, while fully immersing in the world of chamber music! \n  \nTICKETING INFORMATION \nAdmission is free and on a first-come\, first-served basis.
