SUMMARY:Cellissimo
DESCRIPTION:Our YST student cellists take centre stage on this evening\, presenting a specially curated programme of works that showcase the rich depth and expressiveness of the cello. Performing in ensembles of two\, four\, eight cellos and more\, this evening offers cello enthusiasts and string music lovers a glimpse into the immense talent and artistry of our next-generation string musicians. \nThis evening features a diverse programme\, from the playful and textured concert-style dances in Fitzenhagen’s Concert Waltz to Piazzolla’s Libertango and Fuga y misterio; to more intimate and enchanting songs of love in Monteverdi’s Pur Ti Miro and Goltermann’s Serenade for Four Cellos. \nLook forward as well to innovative compositions and popular works by prolific composers such as Verdi (Grand March from Aida) and Sollima (Violoncelles\, vibrez!). The evening ends off with a journey through folk music around the world in Barralet’s Four Folk Songs — demonstrating the versatility of the instrument in capturing a wide range of styles and traditions in performance. \n  \nPROGRAMME \nZHU ZEYU (BMus4)CAO HUIYING (BMus4)GUO MINGAI (BMus4)LIU YOU-YU (BMus3)CHANG JIA-YUN (BMus3) CHEN PEI-YI (BMus3)WU ZUHUI (BMus3)LIU YUBIN (BMus2)WANG JIAYE (BMus2)LIU YIDUO (BMus2)REN ZHIYI (BMus2)CHEN YOUJIA (BMus2)withWU DAIDAI (BMus ’11)MUI CHRISTOPHER (BMus ’17)WANG ZIHAO (BMus ’15) \n  \nJULIUS KLENGLEHymnus for 12 Cellos\, Op. 57 \nGIUSEPPE VERDIGrand March from Aida \nLUIGI BOCCHERINICello Sonata in A Major\, G. 4I.
