DESCRIPTION:ABOUT THIS EVENT  \nImprovisation is a key element of music-making in the Baroque period – a skill that is too often neglected in modern-day musical training. Using 17th-century collections by John Playford as case studies for improvisation back in the day\, students learn to create their own musical motifs based on popular tunes such as “Greensleeves” and “Paul’s Steeple”\, and react to what their peers throw out at them\, encouraging “in-the-moment” creation of an improvisation piece as a group.
