In tandem with Life in Edo x Russel Wong in Kyoto exhibit’s juxtaposition of lifestyle in Edo period Japan and architecture of modern day Kyoto\, our programme explores the lineage of Modern Jazz through its relationship with the Blues. Throughout the show\, we will identify the aesthetic qualities of the Blues in context with the culture that it emanated from\, and illustrate the eccentricity of Modern Jazz through its eclectic nature. The purpose of this is not to underscore the difference in aesthetics between the two genres\, but instead\, to investigate the existence of human constancies by unveiling the music’s relentless and congruent spirit under differing stylistic shells. \nIn collaboration with: \n \nTICKETING INFORMATION \n\nFree admission via registration only\, with a refundable deposit.
