From cutting-edge compositions by renowned living composers to hidden gems of the contemporary repertoire\, OpusNovus has something for every modern music enthusiast. \nThis concert is the culmination of a series of workshops focused on experimentation and innovation in music making. The program features four works by composers Erik Griswold\, Scott McLaughlin\, Will Redman\, and Frank Zappa. These pieces represent a diverse range of approaches to composition and performance\, including improvisation\, graphic notation\, and unconventional rhythms. \nGriswold’s “Action Music” encourages performers to break away from traditional structures and embrace improvisation. McLaughlin’s “After Sol LeWitt: Wall Drawing #960” and Redman’s “Book” utilize graphic notation\, which allows for a greater degree of freedom and interpretation for the performers. The concert concludes with Zappa’s “Black Page\,” a challenging and complex work known for its use of dissonance and unconventional rhythms. \nSubscribe to YST’s mailing list. \nTICKETING INFORMATION \nFree admission. \nOut of respect for other concertgoers\, no children under 6 years of age will be allowed admission. \n* All event information is correct at time of print.
