Musicians\, whether they are the concerto soloist\, the conductor\, or the supportive tutti orchestra\, intuitively understand the wonderfully fleeting nature of a concert performance. When composers capture the creative spark – in Prokofiev’s case\, the musical-portrait vignettes of his Visions fugitives– they also tap into these fleeting resonances. \nCome join us for this concert featuring a selection of Prokofiev’s Op. 22 piano miniatures arranged for a full orchestra by students from the YST Composition Studio\, as well as two vibrant concerto performances: Karol Szymanowsky’s Concerto for Violin No.  2 – the composer’s last major work – celebrates Polish highlander folk traditions and featuring YST concerto prize-winner violinist Leonid Datsiuk\, while Rachmaninoff’s triumphant Piano Concert No. 2 – representing the composer’s victory over his own creative fugitives – will be wonderfully captured by YST concerto prize-winner pianist Wang Chien-Jou. \n\nThis event is supported by: \n \n\n\n\n  \nSubscribe to YST’s mailing list. \nTICKETING INFORMATION \nTickets at $10 via Eventbrite. \nOut of respect for the participants and other spectators\, no children under 6 years of age will be allowed admission. \n*All event information is correct at the time of print.
